The Friends of J.S. Jenks Firebolt 5K & Nimbus Walk (1 mile), held in conjunction with the Chestnut Hill Harry Potter Festival's Saturday events.

The Firebolt 5K is a fundraising event organized by the Friends of J.S. Jenks, an independent fundraising organization of parents, teachers, administrators and community members dedicated to supporting programmatic and infrastructure development at the John Story Jenks Elementary School in Chestnut Hill.
The 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk will be held on Saturday, October 21, 2017, in association with the Chestnut Hill Business Association’s Harry Potter Festival. The 5K run will begin and end at the Church of St. Martin-in-the-Fields on St. Martins Lane at Willow Grove Avenue, while the 1-mile walk will lead participants to Germantown Avenue for the opening ceremonies of the Harry Potter Festival.
5K Run
7:30 a.m. - Race registration opens
8:30 a.m. - Race start time
1-Mile Walk
8:45 a.m. - Walk registration opens
9:15 a.m. - Walk start time
Cash or check for registration fees on race day. T-shirts are only guaranteed to people who register by 9/30 so don't wait!
Festival fun will continue at the J.S. Jenks Playground where children can participate in Wizard Chess and play on bouncy castles, among other fun events.
*Prizes are being awarded to the top finishers in all categories and for the best Harry Potter costumes.
IMPORTANT Firebolt 5K Directions for Street Closures & Parking
The following major street will be CLOSED: Chestnut Hill Section of Germantown Avenue between Cresheim Valley Drive and Chestnut Hill Avenue.
Do NOT use Germantown Avenue.
Public Transportation:
- The SEPTA Chestnut Hill West train to St. Martin’s train stop will put you right at the race start point.
- The 7:15 a.m. train from Jefferson Station will get you there at 7:50 a.m.
- The race starts at 8:30 a.m.
Driving:
From Center City Philadelphia & Points South
- Take I-76 North to Route 1 North OR Take Kelly Drive, Right on Midvale and Left on Wissahickon
- Wissahickon Avenue North Exit
- Wissahickon Avenue to Allens Lane, which turns Right
- Allens Lane to McCallum and turn Left on McCallum
- McCallum to Mermaid where it turns Right
- Left on St. Martin’s Lane
From Montgomery, Bucks County & Points North
- Take 309 South and Exit on Papermill Road and turn Right on Papermill to Stenton
- Left on Stenton to Cresheim Valley Drive and turn Right on Cresheim Valley Drive
- Cresheim Valley Drive to Allens Lane and turn Right on Allens Lane
- Allens Lane to McCallum and turn Left on McCallum
- McCallum to Mermaid where it turns Right
- Left on St. Martin’s Lane
Parking Lot:
The lot is at the intersection of St. Martin’s Lane and Willow Grove Avenue. Registered runners may park in the lot for free for the run and the festival.
